Remembrance Gala Performance at the Peacock Theatre

Last year we hosted a special Gala Performance of Remembrance and The Four Seasons in support of The Royal British Legion and NEBT.

Hosted by Dame Darcey Bussell DBE, the Gala evening included a reception, special guest artists, live auction and our brand new ballet double bill in honour of the centenary of the Armistice WWI.

If you were not able to attend the Performance Gala but would still like to support NEBT and the Remembrance Ballet, please click the button below to make a donation. Thank you for your generosity.

The Gala Performance began with Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. Dynamically recomposed by Max Richter, The Four Seasons formed the musical foundation for choreographer Jenna Lee’s bold, stylish ballet, skillfully offset by dazzling costume designs representing each season.

Followed by world-renowned choreographer Wayne Eagling’s Remembrance, inspired by the story of Dame Marie Rambert’s life during the Great War. The story follows her whirlwind romance with Ashley Dukes and her anguish at their separation as he is called back to the battlefield. This moving, new ballet to commemorate the armistice, was set to Handel’s Ode for St Cecilia’s Day and was played live by The English Concert orchestra with chorus and soloists.

We were delighted to share proceeds from the Gala Performance with The Royal British Legion, formed in the aftermath of WWI, entirely to lend help and support to so many military veterans, who had given so much for their country, and yet came back feeling alone and helpless. The support you give by attending this evening will do so much to help us help those who give so much for this country.
