Wednesday 2nd – Saturday 5th July 2014
This July, we return to Sadler’s Wells Peacock Theatre with Tryst: Devotion and Betrayal, an evening of five world premieres from the UK’s most talented emerging choreographers.

Opening proceedings, we present Tangents, choreographed by former Dutch National Ballet dancer Daniela Cardim Fonteyne. This captivating work will be performed to live music with movements from Mussorgsky’s most famous composition, Pictures at an Exhibition. The Royal Ballet’s Erico Montes has created Toca, a short ballet set to music by Brazilian composer Villa-Lobas, while Royal Ballet Soloist Valentino Zucchetti will be premiering Orbital, set to the arresting sounds of Philip Glass. Bringing the first half to a close is the latest highly anticipated new work from Royal Ballet star Kristen McNally.

The evening will conclude with a newly commissioned work by rising star and Andrew McNicol. Based on Tolstoy’s novella The Kreutzer Sonata, this tragic ballet is a tale of passionate love and jealous rage. Against a backdrop of spectacular designs by Linbury Prize winner Emma Bailey, this dramatic performance will also feature the world-class Sacconi string quartet and concert pianist Anne Lovett.
